Join graphic novel/comic book artist Bentley Boyd on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 10:30 AM for a fascinating look at his creative process.

Mr. Boyd will share the steps he takes from rough draft writing to publication. He will draw and show examples of the illustrations used in his graphic novels.

Mr. Boyd will invite the audience to brainstorm a cartoon idea with him to show how comix can impart information on any subject matter in an entertaining way.

A question and answer session will follow the presentation.

This event is free and open to all.

Mr. Boyd is the creator Comix with Content starring Chester the Crab. The "Chester the Crab" adventures appeared in seven Virginia newspapers during its award-winning five-year newspaper run. The stories are now available nationally in 31 printed comix, e-book editions, and a smartphone app that features expanded versions of the newspaper stories.

Mr. Boyd graduated cum laude from Harvard University in 1990 with a degree in History and Literature. He has created commissioned comic book histories for the Mount Vernon Estate, the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, the Library of Virginia, Historic Jamestowne, and the cities of Norfolk, VA; Lexington, MA; and Oberlin, OH. Mr. Boyd is a native of Ohio and now lives in Cleveland.
