From Friday, April 7, 2023 through Friday, May 19, 2023, the Library is pleased to have on display the West Virginia Humanities Council travelling exhibit, The Hatfields & McCoys: American Blood Feud.

Located in the Atrium, visitors may view this exhibit during the Library's regular operating hours. There is no charge to view this exhibit.

Consisting of 5 free-standing panel kiosks, the exhibit uses text, photos, maps, illustrations, and quotes to examine the history of the Tug Valley region, the origins and events of the feud, as well as its historical and cultural significance. This exhibit, funded in part by ZMM Architects & Engineers of Charleston, traveled on a statewide tour of West Virginia in 2015 and has been available by request from the WV Humanities Council since then.

In conjunction with the exhibit, the Library will be presenting two programs related to the Hatfield and McCoy feud.

On Sunday, April 30, 2023 at 2:00 PM, Julia Geiger will present a living history portrayal of Roseanna McCoy and on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 2:00 PM, Professor Philip Hatfield will present an author talk on his book, The Other Feud: William Anderson "Devil Anse" Hatfield in the Civil War
